About the Veterinary Marketing Association
Who we are
The Veterinary Marketing Association is the representative body for professionals who make it their business to stay in touch with what’s happening in animal health marketing today, and to achieve excellence in their marketing of animal health products and services.
The VMA is a national non-profit membership organisation comprised of marketers from over 50 companies, dedicated to enabling VMA members to achieve marketing excellence by:
- Increasing the standards in marketing through the provision of bespoke animal health marketing training
- Bringing veterinary marketers together, providing networking opportunities
- Recognition and celebration of marketing excellence
The Veterinary Marketing Association is the representative body for UK professionals working in all areas of the animal health industry and clinical veterinary practice, who have an interest in the promotion of products, services or health and welfare information. Our members benefit from enhanced opportunities to network, take part in continuing professional development and share knowledge with those in related roles across over fifty companies ranging in size from small advertising agencies and private veterinary practices to multinational pharmaceutical companies. Members work at all levels from advertising executives and marketing assistants to marketing directors and senior executives.
The VMA is a national non-profit membership organisation devoted to the professional enhancement of all its members, and offers annual awards for marketing excellence, including the prestigious Young Marketer of the Year.
The VMA was formed in 1989 out of the Veterinary Section, as it was then known, of the Pharmaceutical Marketing Society (PM Society). At that time, the PM Society was a young organisation, having been formed in 1985, and was developing its formal constitution. The Veterinary Section decided at that point that it wanted to be autonomous, and split away, creating the Veterinary Marketing Association. Today the VMA consists of marketing professionals from over 50 companies.
Education and Training
The VMA offers a range of opportunities for Continuing Professional Development
The VMA Committee comprises a president, chairman, vice chairman and approximately 15 other members, representing some of the main companies within the veterinary, pharmaceutical and marketing industries. Without the continual support of these individuals and the organisations they work for, the VMA would not be able to continue to offer the number and quality of events it does.
